The red button is holding back a mouse trap type mechanism

When released, the entire ship "explodes"

Dazzle camouflage is coming back to navel ships.

Modern warships have a very small radar reflection and are now at risk from being seen by old fashioned lookouts so some ships are having dazzle paint jobs to break up their lines and make them less easy to visually identify.
