yes, I built one many years ago……a lovely sailing model with plenty of detailing to get the ol’ teath into……..would recommend it to anyone for a build.
a tiny bit fussy about the wheelhouse construction from memory but in all a lovely model to build and sail……….and unusual too.

Thank you Neil. it does look rather nice. My last three models have been Modelslipway models and I am worried that after there wonderful build and fittings quality, anything else may be a let down.. Good to hear..CJ

I cannot say about the quality of kit compared with Model slipway, as I haven’t seen a caldercraft kit in years, and have NEVER actually had a Model slipway in my possession to compare.
If you look for comparrisons between kit you will come unstuck.the best way is to treat each kit on it’s own merits and to build that kit to the best you can, overcome any problems with it, and just enjoy the build.warts and all.

I have built 3 Caldercraft Kits and another ready to build the one thing I can say is that the quality varies between kits. Amaranth is quite simply superb in terms of quality – just cannot be faulted, The CNC cut wood is highly accurate and the wood quality is superb. But the PCF Swift (now discontinued) was at the total opposite end of the spectrum. I kept the hull and the fittings which were very good but all of the wood was just fit for the bin, And thats were it went!! Cheap wood, warped, many parts werent die cut they were lightly shown the die and a light impression was left if you were lucky. None of the parts fitted together either. Total joke. I have a ryhope to build and the quality of that looks very good though despite my experience with the Swift.
