Hi to all, I'm new to the group

So time to get down to my problem, I'm building a model sail boat out of scrap 1×12. I've got the hull cut about 80% I still need the roll and shape the hull. Was looking for ideas on how to rile the hull. Here are a few pics and I still got to take out some wood out of the cockpit. Ullpist some pics when I figure out how to do it..

Is it being carved from solid?

Is it intended to be a working model (i.e. actually sailing) or a static display piece? Different considerations apply.

              Hi Jeremy

              Welcome to the forum.

From your 4 photos, looks like you are carving from solid ? Pine perhaps ?

As Malcolm says, we really need more info' from you – eg what does the " 1 x 12 " refer to…

For a display model, carving from solid should be fine. If you are not working from drawings /photographs of a full-size boat, I would go with what 'looks right'.

For a model to actually sail on the water, there is more design and construction involved. In particular, weight – both above and below the waterline. Will it be radio controlled etc ?

Let us know what you're aiming to do with it.

              Regards,

              Dave C

From the photo's, I believe Jeremy is using planks of 1" x 12" pine in a 'bread & butter' construct.
