Cor Bob. I shall look in the charity shops and start getting my gear ready, as you say, I would not want to look out of place.

      One thing though…are ferrets optional??

Ashley Building a Noah`s ark for `T ferrets right now.

            Cookie, and others.

It is a bit late now but I will give it serious thought next year and perhaps book a table. It is a bit of a trot for me, its half way up the country. I crammed the entire MEX show stuff in the car last December so no reason I couldnt bring at least that much again.

I would have to take nominations for what people would like to see, although the MEX collection probably encompassed the most unusual stuff.

Its not so bad now especially after we tarmacked over the cobbles on the M6 and banished the Vikings to the Isle of Man, we even have those new fangled cold water taps inside our houses……..but don't forget your passport and bring plenty of cash!

Come on Ashley, it's not that far. On my last visit to the UK I drove from York to Eastbourne in time for lunchlaugh Mind you, here in Australia we are used to long distances. We are currently visiting our daughter in central Queensland, a lazy 1200 km drivesmiley On the other hand, the traffic is almost non-existent, although the English roads are much better than ours.

You will have to forgive Ashley………he is what we call a southern softie and they don't travel very well… as far as they are concerned South Mimms is a frontier town and a lazy 1200km drive is a major expedition involving many 4x4s, guides, translators and huge personal risk.

I have also driven from Land's End to John O' Groats, all 1407 km (or 874 miles) of it, but not in one day, it took us quite a while as we were sight seeing along the way. Distances are regarded very differently here in Australia, as opposed to the UK, and we tend to measure journeys in time rather than kilometres. Australia is a huge country, and to do a circumnavigation, by road, would involve about 20,000 km of driving, roughly the same distance as from Sydney to London by air.

                                  Peter.

This is one of the boats that are being sold in the chandlery section at Haydock this year in aid of The Parkinsons Society.

                                    HMS Duchess – D154

                                    duchess 2.jpg

Scratch built in wood over 45 years ago, this static model was 're-discovered' in an attic in 2013 and completely rebuilt using original navy photographs.

This static model is 39 inches long and comes with a wooden display stand, a file detailing the ships service history and a series of model photos taken during the re-build.

Selling price at Haydock will be £120 but I am happy to consider reasonable offers from forum members but please remember that it must be picked up from Haydock for cash.

Some more boats that will be on sale at Haydock some are donations and all of the proceeds will be going to the Parkinsons Society, some are re-builds that are just cluttering up the workshop.

……..The big event is next weekend…….

Everything has been confirmed, verified and checked again so I am confident in being able to announce that Bob Abell will be appearing at Haydock Racecourse.

Bob will be happy to sign autographs between his scheduled TV interviews and live broadcasts and hopes not to disappoint anyone especially if they have been queuing for a long time.

Light refreshments will be made available, for a moderate charge, to those fans who require sustenance whilst waiting to see Bob, if last year is anything to go by then we expect the waiting time in the queues to be no longer than 2 hours.

The Bob Abell memorabilia stand will be available for anyone who would like to purchase and piece of overpriced tat to remember this very special day.

                                        Paul

oh btw the Model Boat Convention is also taking place at the same event so when you get to the entrance just mention Bobs name and you will be charged the 'Fans of Bobs' special rate. (double the normal price)

Only 3 days to go to the event and my Shogun throws its toys out of the playpen.

The injector pump has decided to retire to sunnier climes and left me high and dry.

Luckily my son in law has an estate car so I can get some of the charity boats there and Janes little Lupo will have to step up and carry as much as possible.
