Does anybody have an unbuilt MFA Spearfish kit they may be thinking of selling? I can't get one anywhere…cash/paypal waiting.

Richard.. have MFA stopped making them now? I got my Fantome and Seahawk from my local modelshop who ordered them direct from MFA.

Morning Ashley..yes, I tried ordering direct and calling MFA, they have stopped the Fantome/Spearfish and the rest will be following suit very soon.

            A great shame…

Good job I got in when I did!! I had fancied a Fantome for years and years..even if I had not bought one then, the thought that I COULN`T now buy one would be dissapointing !

Great boats I always maintain, and very seaworthy.

I've never had a Fantome(although a long since departed ex brother in law had one)but I've always had a soft spot for the Spearfish. My old one ended up with a Bullet 30 w/c motor and 24 4D cells in it…to say it was a bit quick was an understatment! I never did manage to find it's limits, it would handle any water I put it in and always came back for more.

I did contemplate a Swordsman…a Huntsman…but somehow the Spearfish has something that those two have not.

                Oh well….keep looking.

But, did you have the figures in it???

If you didnt see my Fantome posts from a year or more ago.. they are "Pippa" dolls, and thus now collectable. Tiny bit on the small size, but thats what they photographed the boats with (we identified them after having seen pete`s (Pippas boy freind…or is it "partner" nowadays??) stripy jumper. see my album. I did find a Britney doll , same size, in case Pete gets bored…

Oh yes…mine had a crew onboard(my daughter has never forgiven me for amputating Ken and Barbie's feet to make them fit….)

Ken sat in the stern, waving suggestively as the boat turned(he was wired to the rudder servo)and Barbie sat up forward gripping the steering wheel.

Ken's reign was short however…one day he turned to wave to a young lady on another power boat and fell overboard in his keeness to impress. I'm sorry to say that he was never seen again…the sea took him.

                    RIP Ken…

Well, it looks as though I may have located me a Fantome instead (it'll be a bit tight getting it in and out of the fire doors and up and down the stairs, but…)…it's fitted with a horrible nasty great ic motor at the minute, but it'll soon come out.

As they say in all the best places…watch this space.

I think MFA sold an I/C engine for this… the "Fox F7" or something?

A pull start lawnmower type. Must have gone pretty well.

Mine has two "cooking" 800`s in it, goes ok, actually a bit faster than it looks to be going as its a bit of a big beastie, and anyway our pond in not that massive to allow blistering speeds for any distance.

I think you're right there Ashley…Fox F7, 22cc aircooled two stroke, although I think I may be right in saying that there was a water cooled head available for marine applications.

I decided against the Fantome, much as I'd have liked it, it 's just too big for me and my current circumstances. Shame…

Well, there's a turn up for the books…I now have a nice shiny, brand new Spearfish2 kit en route from Swindon Model Centre. Last one they had….£99.50 all in.

                            A happy bunny this morning…smiley

Well, that was a failure…the kit arrived damaged, three holes in the hull, parts missing…and was returned. SMC couldn't have done more to help out, but alas…no Spearfish.

Then a stroke of luck…a fellow AMS member had a Spearfish kit in his attic, untouched and unloved. £50 later, and it's winging it's way down here to me as I type.

I'm still suffering from information overload after asking a question re what motors/batteries to install in the boat, so I thought I'd wander over here for some peace and quiet and study Ashley's Fantome pictures some more.
