      Dear All

I had a wonderful day at the Birchwood Show, the sun shone, the models were amazing and the people very friendly.

I took lots of photos but I am posting this one of a very strange boat just for Vinnie.

The mast can clearly be seen so I think that it is some kind of armoured yacht.

      Happy days

      Paul

              Hi Long Build

Thanks for posting the video and the link to the photos, I didn’t manage to take many photos myself and I have really enjoyed looking at all of yours.

The show was the best day of the year so far.

                Hi

Everybody who attended this show said it was the best boat show in the country.  So get your diaries out and on the 29th and 30th of August write in bold letters Birchwood.  See you all there.

                Joe

Paul the mystery boat looks like another of the ones we make at Bae systemsor a Challenger 2, they are most impressive when the driver goes out to plough the fields and scatter. I drove one on the training range at Bordon, it was a brute, better than a four wheel drive.Did you hear about the captain of a minelayer creaming along at 46 knots who made a signal to the skipper of a beat up old submarine wallowing along on diesels charging her batteries, “am making 46 knots do you wish to accompany me? The grumpy submariner signalled back “am about to submerge, do you wish to accompany me?” the bottom line was only heard in the officer’s mess in base port

                    Hi Mike

This is something that we are short of on this site…….a little bit of light humour…

I bet you had some fun driving that particular off roader.

                    Paul

yeh yeh yeh yeh yeh yeh most enjoyable, big boy’s toy’s, they have got loads of vehicles utilizing the same hulland propulsion unit. The most quirkey one is a tank hull and tracks with abussuperstructurewith about twenty seatsso the students can see the way the fighting vehicles are managedin a combat situation. The military play some wicked games, speaking of which, we built two simulators for the army, one at Warminster, and another in Germany each one simulating six tanks, six

light tanksand six command or communication AFV’s, despite each one being considerably bigger than anything we had ever made before, the two could be linked bysattelitedata link and combine the two exercises making a massive training aid, big enough to go into the guinness world recordsas the biggest simulator in the world, the battle tanks are challengers of course, and what a machine they are it took three blokes to lift me into the commander’sposition of the one I drove in the exercisewhich is quite wrong to say because the driver lies down right down in the innards of the tank amost lying on the very floor that is inches above the ground, with a lever in each hand controlling the tracks on that side, and he has the conventional foot pedals for drivingthe brake being the middle one big enough for two feet tofit.      I have flown all the aircraft ones, and enough to teach me how to fly the real thing. My wife had a go one time, and we out in the control room crashed it, I’ve never been allowed to forget thatwell, I have a lot to do, and my chum is calling me on skype. TTFN       Cheers         Mike    D
