        Hello guys,

I have been building plastic model kits for a long time. However this is my first attempt at a RC kit build. I would really like to start by building a fishing boat kit or trawler. I have looked at Billing boat kits but not sure which ones are suitable to build for RC. Also do these kits give advice on what electronics are needed to enable RC facility.

If anyone has any advice on kits that I could choose to be my first build then that would be really helpful. I have very little knowledge on RC and again any pointers would be greatly welcomed.

        Thanks guys.

        Graham.

Have a look at Elli Mae from Mobile Marine Models. It's a nice model, available as complete as you want it. They are also very helpful about all the electrics etc. The running gear and motor can be included.

              Hello Graham,

Welcome to the forum. There are many experts here who will be able to advise on motors, propellers, speed controllers etc. once you have chosen your model.

As for the radio side, these days it is more or less generalised to all boats (although there are some more specialised transmitters /receivers with special facilities…).

Also, when it comes to constructing the kit, you may find that there are some areas which need a fuller explanation. Often there are very knowledgeable modellers who have 'been there before'.

              Just ask…

Good luck and have fun !

              Dave

Billings are not always the best boats for less experienced builders and the instructions have a reputation for being hard to follow in some instances. Charles' suggestion above is a good one for a practical first model of this type. Plus you are supporting a UK company!
