Yes…………..last night I was banned from buying and selling on ebay.co.uk

15 months ago I was sent a voucher “because I was a loyal and valued customer” for 20% off my next purchase.

So with 4 hours 10 minutes  to go before the expiry time of that voucher I bought  a model lifeboat, including post cost me £450.00p.

I submitted the voucher and Ebay  rejected it without ant explanation…..Now to me that is a breach of contract.

17 emails and 4 telephone calls to their Customer service (that’s a laugh) department later and I still hadn’t got anywhere with a refund of about 90  quid on my voucher. Each and every time I emailed I asked for their European mailing address to send a letter of complaint…and each and every time it was overlooked and not given to me.

So when my bill came the other day for £3.50 payable I refused to pay it….and finally after a few more emails to them and sod all response  I got an email last night saying my account had been suspended, but all importantly finally was a mailing address, to where I could send my cheque…….so I have sent one..post dated to 23/03/2011….exactly the time that they have kept me waiting so far for my refund.

If anyone else is having problems with ebay…they can be mailed on:

      eBay Europe S.à r.l.
      c/- Citibank UK Lockbox
      P.O. Box 62449
      33 Canada Square
      London E14 1HH
      United Kingdom

      Arhh that feels good.

are you still BANNED from ebay ?

There is actually a section on boat related Ebay auctions so that can’t be right.

Yesterday’s thread linking to the supply of cheap 900 motors on Ebay was deleted.

I think the link was deleted because

1 you cannot put linkts to your own items on

2 you have to have minimum of posts (he had Just the one)

3 you have to have a picture of the actual item you are selling

from what I saw of it it broke all three off them.

I don’t think you have an address for Ebay as such.    The address you have is a P.O. Box number for Citibank.    The bank will probably just collect your cheque and either ignore the letter or maybe send it on to Ebay who have a habit of ignoring things across the board.     They may come back to you for their money because as the cheque is Post-dated, you have not actually paid or they may forget about it and just leave you banned.
But you can always re-register with another e-mail address and user-name!
As a matter of interest, I put the PO Box Number (E14 1HH) in Google Earth and looked down on a large building with lots of red vans parked in its grounds.    Then I looked at Street Camera and sure enough, it is a Royal mail Sorting Office.

Several years ago, I got suspended from Ebay a week after I joined because my Direct Debit was only confirmed  a couple of days after I made my first sale.    My complaint e-mails always received replies that had nothing whatseover to do with my suspension.    After a month of this, I began pasting their replies to my original complaint and sent it back to them.     Then their next automated answer was tacked on and that was sent back.    After a few days, my e-mails to them were many many pages in length and this didn’t involve me in any more work than cutting and pasting.    They endured my by then enormous e-mails for about a week.    Then, I was contacted via a real human on e-mail who apologised and said it had all been a mistake and I was reinstated with immediate effect!

I tried the same tactic when I changed  Internet server early last year and couldn’t get any sense from them.     They soon tired of my gigantic e-mails that I was bouncing back to them twice a day and sorted out the problems very quickly!

How about this.     Some of you will know that I have produced a couple of home-made e-books on miniature model shipbuilding.    These were on CD disks, nicely packaged and labelled in plastic cases.      I have been selling them very succuseefuly on Ebay for several years now.       All the feedback has been positive and very complimentary.     Two days ago,  Ebay  advised me that it is no longer permitted for anyone to sell home-made e-books on Ebay and that I must desist!

Yet they allow sellers to Blatantly sell Pirate dvds, plans and much more..

                    What was their reason..

Looks like you’ve been swept up in some anti piracy purge Bob.

Still, you could still advertise on here and on Mayhem for a target audience.

                          Colin,
I did advertise in the For Sale section here a while back and a few were purchased.   Don’t want to make it look like spamming though.   Sales are Ok.   I have not advertised at all on Mayhem as I don’t know if its acceptable or not.   Model Ship World is quite happy with it and I donate from proceeds as well.     The British Merchant Navy forum is also happy with it.     I just find it odd that Ebay should suddenly object after I have been selling them on there since 2004!

I think ebay are coming under real pressure from the big guns in the music, film and computer software business. Knee jerk reaction is to ban every thing without thinking, just like our government!

Sometime ago I purchased Robert’s Miniature Shipbuilding on CD it is excellent well worth a read even if you may not be interested in this form of modelling there are plenty of tips you may find useful.

                              Bob,

You are welcome to post it in the For Sale section here.

I can’t see any reason why you shouldn’t put it in Mayhem in the trader section. After all you are a bona fide member and not just somebody out to exploit the site.

As Dave says above, there is lots of useful information on your CD even if you don’t actually build miniatures.

It unlikely that it would have any affect but i Would email them Demanding to know why your sales have been pulled , as long as you are not using any music or anbodyscopyrights other than your own I can’t see any problem

Thanks for replies.   They didn’t actually pull my listing.   The listing had closed with a successful sale and they advised me after that that E-books were not welcome!

Had a little route around ebay and have found this on a few sales
They do not allow the sale of alchole (I sold a bottle of whisky) either but if you claim you you are selling it as a collectable bottle its ok !!!
I have also read that they have not banned them just tried to ban them being sent via email !!

                                      Hi Larry,
I was also under the impression that e-books were banned only if sent by e-mail.   I have always sent an actual disk.    They did actually say to me very clearly that home-made e-books in ANY form are not permissable!

It was annoying, but that is all.    I have stopped ALL my ebay sales as a result.   Can use the saved time for better activities!

                                      Bob
