      Hi all,

Haven't posted or done much work on the tug until now due to work commitments but I have made steady progress in the last few days.

I have a Lucas type washer pump to run a fire monitor using 4mm tubing but I am struggling for where best to locate a water inlet and what to use?
I had considered a plastic barb type fitting on the side of the hull below the water line but I wasn't sure If it should go on the bottom of the hull.

The pump is self priming, I've tested it in the sink (please don't tell the wife) so doesn't need a scoop to get water into it.

      thanks in advance
      Stef

            Hello Stefan

As the pump is self priming I would fit the inlet on the bottom of the hull using a fitting like the one shown below. Use a thin outer nut to make the inlet as flush as possible.

Thanks for the heads up on that Dave, might need to change that detail for one from model boat bits as you say.

Paul, at the bottom of this link is what I had in mind. What's your thoughts on this?

The issue was the lucas one was fine when pumping but if you attempt to run it dry for even seconds while testing they seize up , i tested mine when i bought then with a bowl of water out of the boat , but once installed in the boat i ran them just to check the wiring for seconds and they seized and game over , i have to say however they had a Lucas badge but were made in china ,

                  Dave
