Aside from the red and green sidelights, can anyone please tell me what other lights were carried by Brede class lifeboats and their position on the boat?
I've been Googling like crazy but all I can discover is that they seem to have carried two lights on platforms attached to the mast, the rear one being blue. What were their functions? Did the blue one flash?
The blue light flashes same as fire/police/ambulance etc.
The other white light on the mast platform is part of the navigation lights with the red/green sidelights. as well as a rear facing white stern light on a short support above the door. These two white lights have resticted arc of vision so that the mast head light cannot be seen from the stern and visa vera for the rear facing light.
when the navigation lights are being used…..all lights in transit would be on in limited vision, including dusk/night/fog and foul weather……….and if on a "shout" the blue flashing also.
