I was searching for info on google for the veron rttl model. when I went on "images of" I found a number of my album photos of my model posted on there. I thought "well I suppose thats natural" so I searched for different model boat images from my other album postings, but couldnt find any on google images(yet). is model boats picking out certain photo postings? in otherwords are decent photos being picked out? or is this a google thing? just curious

It's a Google thing. Bots, I think they call them spiders, trawl the web looking for and indexing images at random. I have found several of my pics come up unexpectedly when doing some research.

It just emphasises that anything you put on line can end up in the public domain as many people find out to their cost!

It's just an image Keith so no but certainly inserting a watermark into the image would discourage people from trying to use it for commercial purposes. Assuming they wanted to of course…

Whenever I'm doing an article for Model Boats I never put the images online beforehand.

Colin has it really. Don't put anything online that you don't want people to see.

It amazes me that (probably) billions of people have all their data stored in someone-else's "cloud" storage facility and then moan when some of this, er…sensitive stuff ends up online.

Personally, if the world wants to see what pictures I put on the Model Boats forum…..let them!!

Also one of the reasons my "secret" projects remain secret, also as per Colin.

A few years ago when posting on a motorcycle forum I was concerned to find a few of my photos appearing in Google searches. I found that on the forum web-site you could choose if photos could be viewed publicly or not though and ticked the option for members only to view. I don't know if that stopped the photos being picked up by Google though as I never checked again.

Just did a Google search and I see that a few photos from my build blogs are there and link back to the threads. Reinforces that you have to be careful what you post, particularly personal information.
