Aeronaut Diva Name Transfers

The transfers that came with the kit appear very weak and unlikely to stand out on the boat. I wondered if they are meant to be a guide only to be painted over? They look like water slide type transfers. Any suggestions on how to apply on this kit.

Do you mean the 'Diva' name transfers in white?

They probably are waterslides. I am not familiar with the kit myself but looking at illustrations online they appear to be applied to the varnished surfaces in which case wait until you have got enough coats on to get the finish you want, apply the transfers and then put on a final coat of varnish to waterproof them in place.

I'm surprised there is no mention in the instructions?

Actually, looking back on a lot of years of kits, I can't recall ever seeing instructions regarding decal application, other than where on the model they were supposed to go. Maybe just a mention in a "hints and tips" section in a magazine or tips on a forum like this.

But waterslides do benefit from being applied to a nice smooth surface and do need waterproof protection. Provided that the makers knew what they were doing, a white decal (really difficult to home make due to there not being easily available white ink) will show up very well on a dark varnished wood background.
