Advice on resin moulded fittings

Hi all. I have recently purchased a set of windows for the Tyne RNLI> They are cast in resin. On the back (which will be stuck to the plastic cabin) there is a shiny surface. Does this surface have to have the shiny surface removed before it can be stuck to the plastic? .

Window frames for Tyne RNLI

how do you want to stick the frames on………if you have a look at my Tyne class build,pages 36 and 37 you will see that the window frames have been stuck onto the cabin of the Mersey class lifeboat i was restoring for a friend. all of these frames were stuck on with double sided sticky tape.bought from ebay……..

and once they are stuck on, they wont come off either…..available in numerous widths, it is superb, and no glue runs at all.

Most of the resin moulded parts I have purchased, have a concave surface on the rear, the instructions tell you to use an abrasive to flatten this surface to obtain a uniform surface for gluing.

This instruction was on parts of 2 items that I bought from Deans Marine & items bought from the 'Mast Man'.
