A Breath of Fresh Air…!

I enjoy reading the contributions that Glynn makes to the mag. I do wonder if we have become too serious these days in the way we view our hobby while he bucks the trend with his sparks of origianality. This month we have been treated to yet another charming craft with ‘Elliot’ the fire boat.

Does anyone else think like me?

Dead right. Glynn does no wrong in my book.

 

I only write in a humerous vein.

I am not sure I have that many “serious” boats at home.

Yes, Glynn has the gift of being able to simplify a subject so that just about anybody should be able to build it while still retaining all the character of the original. Easy to construct and you are in no doubt at all just what it is supposed to be.

Hi Rick and all the others.

I have recently stumbled upon a forum where the thread title was MODEL YOUR MODEL. This was planes, jets etc. Anything to do with flying.

Now what these guys did was the following. They ask their wifes, girlfriends, some other guys wifes to hold their favourite model. This was done wearing pants, shorts, bikinis etc. they even had a nude with the wings strategically placed. We dont have to go there but it looked to be huge fun. Some guys even posted all their models. This thread kept on going for months. Should we try it? If your wife dont want to do it ask the kids. or some lovely lady at the pond.

There is no objection to model makers posting pictures of their models – this is after all a model boating forum and many modellers have posted pictures of their models in galleries and albums already.

 

There is no objection to a willing person holding the featured model, but one must be careful when posting specific pictures including one’s own children (or someone else’s) or ‘scantily clad’ women because of the legal considerations.

 

Also, if a bystander (or indeed anyone unwittingly) has their photo taken with a model, they may well not want it on an internet forum. If there is a complaint from a third party about images including children etc. on this website and forum, it is MyHobbyStore who own this site that are first in the firing line and not the person doing the posting.

 

So, I don’t think a ‘Model your Model’ style of forum thread as suggested is something MyHobbyStore can allow.

Paul is right, we should stick to pics of our boats (or other maritime subjects) only – as I’m sure most of our better halves would agree.
