        Hello Everyone,

I’m a newbie and want to learn a little about model boats, so I’m glad I have found your Forum!

Could someone please tell me what the wheeled tubular steel? frames are called, that are used to put boats into and out of the water?

One other question (I’m sure I will have plenty more) Which is best, AM or FM Transmitters?

Thanks in advance, for any advice you Guys can give to me.

        Oliver.

              Hi Oliver

As Bob says if you are just starting up in the hobby perhaps you should check out the Spektrum trannies ,I bought one for wifey (the DX6i)and it was £129.99 and when you thing of buying a few sets of crystals for changing at the lake side on the 40meg systems there isn’t  much differance and if you go to other clubs there is no messing about with frequences .
You get your first receiver in the price and a tranny with 6 channels and 10 memories
AND the 4 batteries in it seem to last forever ,and we go to the lake alot ,my Futabe with a 9.6 pack @ 700amh is rubbish compared to it.

              Hope this helps you

                Thanks Ducky,

I think that FM does make more sense = less interference.

I like the idea of being able to use one transmitter and not have to change crystals, I will look out for a DX6i, it seems to be able to do everything I would need it to do.

Another question… Do you guys have any magic solution when it comes to cleaning very dusty models that might have been stored away for some years, I have just bought two boats and they are both very grubby due to being stored for a number of years.

Because there is a lot of intricate details on the boats I wondered if there is a way of cleaning them without risking any damage?

Thanks to everyone for all your help, I do appreciate it.

                Oliver.
