      Hello All,

I have landed myself a 36” fibre glass hull, I’m wanting to to put two water jet drives, something like the Graupner Jet Propulsion Unit (2340) and twin 700, is there any tables or mad systems I can use, to make sure I have the right bits and bobs.

      Cheers

CP, Not sure what you mean here…The drive units are complete, just plop in a 700 motor, or do you mean are the jet units powerful enuf??  I should think twin 700 jets on a 36″ hull is more than suficient. (but wont be faster than my new boat…)  Ash

hi chris i dont know if brushless motors would do any good  i had a mate with a full size jet boat  and his fitted a sooped up engine to it  .guess what just the same, its all to do with the prop size in the jet and the size of the tube its in.well thats my pounds worth
                regards sammyk

Interesting question.   Our club built around 22 plus jet boats as a group project. a few years back. [with my limited skills my contribution was the motor mounts, four per boat] The original concept was to use 30cc I/C weed eater motors converted from air to water cooled.  Fitted to a basic hull about 42inches.    One or two keen types have tuned them to good performance.   Now this last year along comes one member with a new hull and just an 18cc motor.   This barely tuned up goes as fast or faster than any and runs level, as opposed to the ‘climbing’ trim of 30cc motored boats which have never got up level that I’ve seen.  To me the moral of this story is not to weigh down the boat so it has to climb instead of running level. or waste power by fitting trim tabs to lift the stern. Don’t know if this tuppence worth is of value to you
