      Hey Dave,

Thanks! So glad my Grandfather introduced me! Got a PS4 last year but hardly use it now. Just seems like a waste of time when i could be doing all this stuff that is much more beneficial to my future and more fun!

Also, wow! Just looked through your album! Very impressive. How will that 3 motor system work?

Yeah! I get asked that quite a bit. Probably am out the club; doesn't bother me though… At the end of the day what are you gonna put on your CV. I have $6,000,000 of FIFA points and am the best at GTA5 in britian or i know AutoCAD inside out, take up engineering challenges in my spare time and have great grades because i didn't waste all my time on a game console

I might be wrong but seems like the right plan to me!

😊 yeah, i just want to be succsesful and i cant workout how a PS4 is helping me Get what i ultimately want? thats my mind set but it might be wrong however i feel i can make more of an impact on my life here: learning, building, getting help from knowledgable people. Oh and if any of you guys ever need anything 3D printed, just ask. I Will try my best to make them

Matthew – such a breath of fresh air for a teenager – you will be surprised how much you will learn designing and building "stuff".

Good luck – plenty of help on here.

                    Thanks Trevor

I just had a look through your album and found that lotus! Very cool indeed, what a great idea! How did you make all the complex wood pieces water tight? I am struggeling to seal around my jet intakes, what would you suggest?

                    Matthew

The Lotus was fairly simple strange box shape.

To make the "lid" I first made the car then wrapped it up in two layers of clingfilm. The lid was then cut and glued together in place, the cling film stops it sticking to the body.

There is also a seal of draught proofing tape, four screws with glued in captive nuts hold it down.

It zips across the pond quickly but tends to flip over on the ripples (probably overpowered with two 540 motors and racing props). Only managed to get it under water a few times so far – still a work in progress.

Technically it works (OK not as well as hoped) so has been moved down the list of projects. Will have another go at it when the water warms up.

Silicon bath sealant is good for sealing – make sure everything is clean and grease free first.

                          Very interesting Trevor,

Ahhh Bath sealer! What a great idea, i will be sure to try it on the ABS intakes!

Also you said you have two 540 motors on such a small boat. What would you suggest for mine? 84cm long 29cm wide and i want it to go fast like the attack crafts?

                          Matthew

No idea on the size of the motors, chances are brushless is the way to go however be aware of the shaft bearing limits as there will be quite a load on them.

Tthe Lotus was sized around the weight of the motors, battery and some for controls, giving a displaced volume. The water line was guessed as around the window height and volume of car under water calculated.

Side elevation was adjusted on the photocopier to get the approximate size with just enough internal space for motors, width adjusted to get the displacement.

Thats why they teach maths at school.

                            Scale is about 1:15.

                              Okey

Yeah, it is a shame they don't start teaching any real world maths such as that until A-Level but i am sure i will figure it out! All i have worked out so far is that those 2 jet motor are not going to be enough!
