      Hi Gareth,

not sure who but I was told that Dave couldn't make it as intended as he had taken ill and to his bed. I just assumed that he was coming to cover the event, as Bob had asked if it was to be advertised in the Magazine too back when we started this thread, and he indicated Dave was interested.

Now's your chance Gareth, you can always stress that you are a "technical yottie assistant!"

          Hi Bob,

You missed a grand couple of days out at Llandudno last weekend. We did not have any problems parking on either day, maybe we were just lucky. The location was splendid and there seemed to be lots of interest from spectators who wondered what the event was all about. Our only criticism would be that the pond is not vey deep. Elizabeth's Marblehead which has a old fashioned fin keel was just touching the bottom near the side of the pond and her more modern Marblehead would have needed another 6 inches of water. However it did not seem to be a problem for the 36Rs or the powered models sailing after the event.

          Regards

          Gareth

            Hi Bob,

yes, the parking was no problem at all. The pond, we found out, had been repaired a few years back by pouring in concrete over the original bottom which was clay. This resulted in loosing abour 4" depth. Added to the already shallow pool, about 15" on average, over the weekend of the event it lost another 2/3" due to thw strong wind blowing down the length and causing the waves to spill over into the spill way drain. S local chappie said it can take a few days to re-fill, it being filled from an aduct flowing out of the Great Orme mine workings.

            At least its fresh water.

Great fun, we plan to return as soon as we can for a long weekend sailing.

            Kim.

Gareth, your photos arrived, absolutely splendid of you, lots of action shots.

              Hi Kimmo and Gareth

I did have a master plan!

And that was to turn up, Saturday morning!

But the weather in Manchester was most rally unpleasant….So that was that!

Just for interest, that ruined building at the mountain end, was Louis Carroll's house!

It was knocked down only about five years ago…..For no apparent reason!

Sorry to have missed the show

              Bob
