Ha!…….Surprise, surprise!

I think I may have cracked it?

Gripped the end in the vice and wrung it`s neck with the special spanner

With the brass not being annealed……..There was about 180 deg wind up before it started to bend

Might give it a few more turns yet

The twists look very pretty and helps complete the confection.

I have had a thought….if you made a few more and some horses you could make a merry go round with a green and white striped roof, power to make it turn could come via a lay shaft from one of your many motors, it could even be lit up with leds

Hi Bob , Glad you got sorted with the barley twist , When you said my method might not work i just had to try it with some 3/16 square mild steel and it worked a treat , i even did one at 20 rpm in back gear and that worked.

P.S Dont clamp the tailstock to the bed as when the bar twists it gets shorter end needs to drag the tailstock up a bit.

I would have gripped the tail end in the tool post…….How did you grip the the bar at the tail end?

My lathe would blow the micro fuse at slow speed for some reason?

Commodores Comp day

This years comp was a sort of steering comp, with a difference……Comp 1…..The chap with the tranny, has his back to the model and his partner gives the steering instructions!……Chaos!

Part 2 Was the straight line running comp

The model was set to run straight and pass through two buoys about 50 yards out……Quite difficult really

While all this fun was taking place, Lady Joyce was giving a demo to a chap from the Colwyn Bay club

For some reason, the ESP`s on motors 1 and 2 had gone off tune, but we had power enough

Demo`d Brutus first…….which behaved very nicely

Since we missed the Club`s Venetian Night, last week……….We held another Venetian Night on Coniston Pool!

Bill is an old work mate, from the far off distant past

He called round, the other evening to work on my Bandsaw and saw my boats, but he could'nt find them on the net

So, I helped him out

The model is as good as finished now, but at the moment, I haven't got the interest in building another model

The large paddling pool is a nice feature to have and I'm loathe to pack it away at the moment

Just like you I have lost interest in designing and building another model, Jane puts it down to the overkill of producing so many designs/models in such a short space of time.

I am back designing card craft items and currently working on a Christmas train, a recent project was a card model MG for a wedding.

The groom is a Manchester United fan and the wedding was at Old Trafford.

I like your model of the card MG and I'm very impressed!

Like you, I am also completely drained of any further model boat making activity, but it is on temporary, hopefully

Tomorrow, we are going with the club, to the Telford Show, which may be of interest you, as the theme seems to be small models in general?

I'm looking forward to it

Next week, we have the club "models of the year" comps and hoping to enter the VGC model
