      Two years I think before my p45 and a full 5 days a week creating fabulous oddities, and I have discovered a veritable TREASURE TROVE of oddities to make, each one more awe inspiring (and implausible) than the last.

      After every oddity I wonder "gosh what on earth can I make next that no one has bothered to make yet" and lo and behold, up it pops.(the idea)

      Bob, just keep on adding bits to the boat, makes it soooo interesting. The Abell drive is just to die for, even if it is inefficient and takes up space…but that is not the point..it looks fabulous.

      Do your own thing. Ignore the others.

        Almost correct but owing to your classical education you should have done better…. 5/10

        I have discovered a veritable TREASURE TROVE of oddities to make, each one more awe inspiring (and implausible) than the last. Just wait and see what I have lined up, all fresh off the drawing board and very futuristic.

        Bob

        I have submitted all of the competition entry forms so now its up to you to make them look pretty. looking forward to it.

          May…June…July…August…September…….Smart Alec!

          Thank you, Ashley

          I'm pleased somebody can talk a bit of sense!

          I repeat…..I'm building the model for personal interest and amusement and I'll do it my way!

          I may have a sail shortly……In the wee small hours…..Just to get the monkey's off me back!

            I shall try to be at least 200% correct next time. BTW What happened to the last two very futuristic things from your drawing board? Did they disappear into another dimension?

            Bob

            Follow this very closely – you can use your fingers to count on if you wish because it's quite tricky until you get the hang of it –

            In one month's time it will be mid-June;

            In two month's time it will be mid-July;

            In three month's time it will be mid-August;

            In four month's time it will be mid-September; so

            In five month's time it will be mid-October. QED.

            Alec {Oh – and there's no apostrophe in "monkeys"}

                Where has this monkey comes from and will it have a cabin in the boat?

                I became bored with Ghost and its redundant technology but Banshee is still there along with Cerberus (triple hull hydroplane stealth torpedo boat)

                    I'm on this side of reality …………..well at least in my lucid moments.

                    How many fingers do you have?

                    Including thumbs you have eleven……and its easy to check………just look at your hands and start counting from the left hand side……10……9…..8…..7…..6 + 5 from your right hand……=11.

                    But seriously Haydock is getting closer and you haven't even started your Glynn Guest model yet.

                      I'm sure they've built it with Lady Joyce in mind?

                          The cords around the landing stage deter the Geese from soiling the area………It works well too

                            Hi Bob,

                            thinking of combining a travel cradle with a wheeled launching trolley.

                            It will always be a two man job to launch so just need to be able to get it into my car on my own, its a Honda CRV so will fit easy.

                            Not a member of a club yet, there are not many around my neck of the woods {Deeside in North wales} think that Ellesmere Port is the nearest.

                                  Hi Bob,

                                  Nice little boat you have there on the roof, although green would not be my personal choice of tube material. Grey or orange would be more realistic I think. But hey…

                                  What I do miss though, is either a pair of oars or an outboard motor fitted. Also a grab rope along the tube or handles would be handy. And please do cut off these bolt ends! It hurts like hell when you try to board a boat over the stern wich such steel bars protruding…

                                  Your handrails look lovely! That's definately an advantage to building large-scale; you can actually make the handrails and other items like the real deal.

                                    What are you on about?…….I've already said, the dinghy is still on the production line

                                    Why don't you rissen?…..lol

                                    I really wanted a yellow dinghy, but didn't have any yellow paint!

                                    The oars are in the pipeline and even a mo'or

                                    There's really no end to the amount of fine detail that can be added…..If one has the time?

                                        Will be fitting a pair of grab rails to the other cabin roof now

                                        The narrow walkway has been legging me up for months……That's why the main hand rails have not been fitted

                                        But with the grab rails, they now make some sense

                                        Like the new phrase……"Legging me up"….?

                                            Sorry Diede……But it wasn`t a grammar joke……..It was a common English phrase…..lol

                                            I was short of just one 5mm dowel for the cabin roof………Drat!…..Only had 6mm in stock

                                            I had previously noticed that as I pushed the grab rail through the eye bolts, a tiny slither of wood was shaved off

                                            This gave me an idea!………So I drilled a few holes of various sizes through a piece of 1.5mm sheet metal…..6mm…..5.5mm…….5mm and countersunk the holes on one side…..and got a very sharp cutting edge

                                            Starting with the 6mm , I tapped it through the hole and a nice shaving was skimmed off…..All the way down!

                                            Which was quite interesting and pleasing……..I also noticed that pushing the dowel through again…….More wood was shaved off

                                            Repeated the process using the other smaller holes and ended up with a perfectly round 5mm dowel

                                            I put the other grab rails through and they were all standardised to 5mm………Nice!

                                                That is a good way of creating dowel indeed. I'll remember that one!

                                                as for the grammar and phrases; I saw something about narrow pathways and legs, so I figured stumbling would be in place wink
