      "Mish"? Surely shome mishtake?

I understand that Watneys' final demise was the direct result of a compulsory test which was done by the Government chemist on behalf of HM Customs and Excise, who had doubts as to whether or not Red Barrel was actually strong enough to be subject to beer duty.
The report simply stated "Dear Sirs, We regret to inform you that our findings indicate your horse died as a result of diabetes".

(Please note that no ribs were cracked during the writing of this post).

        Hi Amy

The problem with duck tape is that we haven't seen it in the north of England since the missionaries stopped coming north of Watford.

The reason given was the lack of 'pie and mish' shops but it was really due to the demise of Watneys which had suffered terribly during the strikes at the Yorkshire gnat extraction farms.

        Hi Paul

Yeah, well, I understood every word of that…….wink

The problem with these old geezers is that they can get very parochial……………… I'll provide a translation via PM if you really want to suffer.

Re all things parochial I always thought a xenophobe played the xylophone.

Watneys beer came from London and was renouned for being weak…… in fact it was often said that Manchester tap water had a greater alcoholic content.

The Yorkshire gnat farms is where the 'water' for Watneys beer came from……hence the saying gnats pi–.

What will you use to seal the hull?

                    Hello Ian

I think I`ll use P38 where necessary and a few coats of varnish or red oxide, on the inside

Might cover the outside with white paper, then a few coats of white paint

The Ellie colour scheme looks nice too…….Green hull and cream cabins

I was also thinking of using some form of veneer wall paper too

                    Wait and see!

                      Hi Bob..

                      >>I think I`ll use P38 where necessary and a few coats of varnish or red oxide, on the inside

Might cover the outside with white paper, then a few coats of white pain<<

Sounds like a tried and tested method, is this your usual process for water proofing, as I used the resin and cloth method for the Wattle for the first time and its causing a lot of work on the sanding process to get back to that smooth finish.

                      >>The Ellie colour scheme looks nice too…….Green hull and cream cabins<<

It will look great, you could end up with a fleet, in your own colours.

                      Look forward to the updates,

                      Ian

                        Hello Bob

The build quality continues to be excellent and I must admit to a little excitement in the anticipation of seeing the boat on the water.

As the hull has such a long swim [look it up Ashley] it should be very graceful on the water and move quite quickly without a huge bow wave.

                          Hello Ian

Most of my hulls are never…"Nice and smooth"…..Especially on an old type of model like a tug or trawler

The easiest way of covering up the scabs and sores etc is to cover the hull with riveted card plates

                          The riveted appearance looks lovely

I use thickish card, (about 0.015&quot and glue them on with PVA

The riveted effect is punched through from the back, using a hand pressed centre punch…..Accurately lined up

                          Hope this helps?……Bob

                            Hi Bob…

That looks great what a great method to cover and make the affect of rivet plates.

I am tempted to give that a go, it would look more like the real thing.

                            Thanks again,

                            Best regards,

Bob – However nice and great these riveted plates look, I strongly urge you to finish this particular hull as smooth as possible.

On "the real deal" usually a hefty layer of filler is used, covering all irregularities and making for a nice high gloss finish…

                                    The boat is looking fine.

Have you tried the Abell unit in the hull for size etc.?

The original Abell Drives are too wide to go as intended, I could make them fit, by some jiggery pokery, but I could also mount the motors in tandem and then I would not need the timing belts?

                                      Not a bad idea?

I have never used motors in tandem so I cant comment on how efficient this setup will be but the tandem layout will certainly help with fitting them into your boat.

Made up some of the window frames to see how it will look……"Through a glass darkly"…..hey, Geoff?

Also chopped the rear canopy down

BTW Paul…..With the inline motors idea, we`ll still need the Timing belts…….To get down onto the prop shafts of course!

You should have spotted that and got yourself a few Brownie points!
