10 points to Mr M for catching on.

I don't mind the design being adapted and Capt Bob has already had quite a lot of input into the design. The new version has a whole new look and whilst it isn't exactly as drawn it does have a style all of its own.

I am actually planning to build a six foot version of the original design over the coming winter so that the readers can compare the two types.

That was too cryptic for me, Paul

Had I known the dog was called Bullseye, I may have cottoned on?

Looking forward to your Winter build Paul!

Are we not going a bit OTT though, with a Two Yarder?

        One man`s meat eh?

          Hello Bob

6ft does sound daunting but the boat will be split into 3 sections for ease of handling.

          vgc split into 3.jpg

This time I am adopting a vertical joint at F4 and will be concealing the joint line behind a nice mahogany boarding ladder.

Jane is looking forward to fitting out the cabins with buttoned leather seating and dolls house fittings.

            Hello Paul

Why don't you make the cabin first?

              Hi Bob

I am going to spend a day cutting out all of the parts and then a week gluing the major sections together.

With all of big bits made I can check that everything fits together then the plan is to complete the cabin so that Jane can begin her work.

I'm not rushing at this build as I don't expect to sail it until next March.

                Nothing too exciting chaps

Finally glued the deck in position and a general tidy up

I really could do with getting to the Warwick show and select the motors etc

                  Hi Bob…

It is looking good.. must be great to work on such as scale..

I will whisper this…. don't want Paul to get upset….lol

( if you put figures on the model will you find correct size off the shelf)?

                  Regards,

                  Ian

                    Hello Ian

The model is the same scale as the Dolls House stuff, so there should be no problem finding figures, dogs and furniture etc

                    Why are we whispering?

It makes a refreshing change, building at this scale!, but it makes the workshop feel a trifle small!

It feels an enormous model now, but, get it on the water and it`ll look totally different!

Don't worry about upsetting me as there are plenty of scale figures available but it all depends on whether or not Bob can find the right shelf.

                      Bob

Looking good but I think the shed is a tad on the short side.

                        Shop floor to Drawing Office……

Finally got the stern area sorted

With outline of hinged foldback doors giving access to the engine room…..Down the steps to view the Twin Abell Drives, where we hope to fit lights!

Should be interesting work, fitting the doors etc……Dolls House hinges in the post

                          Drawing chappie to building walla

Your freelance version is coming on in leaps and bounds but your latest progress report has confused me, which is quite easily done these days, so I would like to ask a couple of questions.

I hadn't included a rear sunken cockpit on the original design as I had intended to fit the rudder posts and servos within the stern compartment (between the rear cabin and transom) how have you overcome the problem of concealing this equipment?

Have you moved the position of the engines / mounts to the rear of the hull? opening the hinged foldback doors to reveal the engines is a nice touch as originally these doors would have only opened onto the rear cabin.

Have you done a sketch of the new layout

                            Hello there Paul

Not got round to the rudder mech yet, but I`m hoping it will fit under the floor boards

But could something with a seat box etc, to hide the rudder posts

From the full size photos, only the engines are in the rear cabin section, that`s why I`m hoping to see the engines through the back door

There seems to be simple steps at both ends of the rear cabin

I`m using the fore cabin to hide all the radio stuff and keep the engine room clear

Have you made any progress with the Lady Jane 6 yet?

                            Bob

                              Hi Bob

A seat box would hide the rudder posts and the rudder servo.

The engines in the Sea Dog are under the wheelhouse, if you look closely at the photos you will see the access panels in the wheelhouse.

I used this website when doing my research into this type **LINK** there are lots of interior photos of the Sea Dog including the electrically operated engine room access panels in the wheelhouse floor.

Progress on the Lady Jane is slow as all I have done is transfer the templates onto ply in readiness for cutting.

                                Hello Paul

Your link seems to have a fault, as it times out

There are steps down into the motor room at the drivers end and the rear steps appear to descend into a working area

The sleeping quarters are below the foredeck

                                Anyway…..I`ll sort something pleasing out

Still enjoying the build immensely as my imagination runs riot!

                                                    Hello Captain Bob

If you really wanted to create engine access it would be a simple matter of cutting the panels out of the wheelhouse floor and fitting them back with dolls house hinges so that they can open.

It would look quite good with some lights in the engine room, you could even set up a servo to open the access panels by remote.

The prop shafts are 160mm centre to centre.

Be careful…….we are talking about proper models here………..you might catch the bug and give up with the hardboard and ducktape.
