Excellent Bob, That is about as I see it for Paul`s initial picture, if that is the game. I rather like the look of the flat at the stern and for my money the rear could look OK with just a well and leather studded cushioned seats in, although the "cabin" in the picture is more of a glass box with roof and should not look too heavy.

The funnel is a bit tall, but I would play around with the height of that a bit to see if you would like a slightly taller item than the original, which could be said to be a bit squat, depending on personal taste.

        Thank you, Ashley

I'll make the rear section, because it is unusual and adds interest and I like the idea of steps going down to the engines, and with a bit of luck we may be able to see the twin drives

I think the chimney is an oval shape in the plan view

Now see, Bob, although the chimney is not quite "there" yet, you can already see it improves the look of the overall boat. You'll be fine once it is time for detailing.

Ashley, I actually think the aft roofing is just a roof with a glass front, further only supported by frames where you can pull canvas round when the weather gets really foul or when moored…?

Antipodean hardboard must be made from stronger materials than the stuff we get in the UK, Bob would get better results building his canoe out of cornflakes.

              Paul

Aye Paul, we're made of stout stuff down here! (hmmm cornflakes and Amjoop, may be onto something there…)

Like the man said…………..With the Chimney and Poop, the model will transform itself

Looking at the stern view photograph of Sea Dog (posted 16/10), if this is how the model will look, it will certainly be an eye-catcher.

Bob. Top notch. Great proportions, top hole.

Mahogany veneer on the side, 21 coats of varnish. Just the ticket.

                                  Hello Paul

I certainly am going for the Twin Abell drives!

They will look super and compliment the Vintage theme, but unfortunately…..Rather expensive!

Wonder how four motors will sound, running together?…….. They could set up some interesting harmony`s?

What size of prop so we need?…………60mm look about the max?

                                    Hello Captain Bob

The Abell units could very easily set up some odd harmonics especially in a large model….the hull will act like double bass and amplify the sounds. You might have to add some felt pads inside the hull to dampen the sounds.

The designed propeller size(for scale purposes) is 70mm but the final choice will ultimately depend upon the power output of the twin motor units.

                                    Paul

It all looks to be coming along, look forward to seeing the engine room with all that power.

Did Robert Newton play Bill Sykes? I'd guess it was in the David Lean version of Oliver Twist, with Alec Guinness as Fagin and Tony Newley as Dodger – yes? (Bullseye was Bill Sykes' dog). Sorry – I digress.
Paul – you're a very brave man to allow your design to be built by a contractor and modified publicly in real time by a committee. I don't allow anyone to see my designs until they're ready to put onto the water, by which time it's far too late to change anything.
