Outside of the hull now coated with epoxy. I used Pacer Z-Poxy
pre-warmed and undiluted. It’s gone on pretty thick and left a
glass-like shell. I will now sand it with wet and dry to smooth out the
imperfections and provide a basis for painting. I will be using
Halfords aerosols, red oxide primer and Ford Fjord blue, followed by a
satin varnish. The question is, do I need more than one coat of epoxy
before painting? Any advice would be appreciated.
On my wood planked Orca, I’ve used fiberglass resin and then the fiberglass cloth, followed by another layer of resin. Actually did a couple of layers of this stuff. No leaks anywhere and this boat is very tough. It has been rammed by other boats at full throttle and no problem at all!!!
