Now that the frivolities are growing on you….Like a nasty rash, we need a calculated guess on where to put them!

          Ahem

They are 330mm long x 40mm wide and have a centreline span of 400mm

I think, touching the water slightly aft…….would be the way to go?

Had a few members asking about work in progress etc

Got to admit, I am slowing down lately, as the three projects are nearing completion

SloMo is being worked on at the moment. Fitting the outriggers for stability and general appearance

The outriggers are neatly fitted and will look the bizz when they are riveted and glossed over

                Hi Bob

The boats look very good lined up together, I have been messing about with some underwater wings for Brutus to provide extra lift for the midsection of the hull.

I would have thought that two brushless motors would have kept the nose up?

                  We'll soon find out!

                    Real progress at last!

Fitting the prop shafts …….an important stage of the build

Note the accurate method of alignment, based on the keel for location, a similar block is fitted inside too

The distance between the rudders and props looks excessive, but can easily be reduced

                          Bob,

Do you expect the struts that attach the sponsons to be below the water level or above it? If they are above the water they may not make much difference to the top speed but they look very draggy to me. If they end up under the water I suspect they will generate a lot of drag. Could you not flatten the tubes to make them more of an aerofoil shape? It would look much better if nothing else. (and you thought Ariel's top secret keel looked bad!)

                          Gareth

                            Hello Gareth

The tubes are supposed to be above the waterline, they haven't any washers fitted at the moment and will lift up another 10 mm

I could also redrill the holes if need be

                            Thanks for the idea though

                              For Ashley and fans

In case you are wondering…..SloMo is progressing slowly

Motors, props and ESC's are installed….Sponsons looking nice…..Working on rudder mech at the moment and the driver animation

Still lots of bits that need to be done before even thinking about sailing!

                                Hi Guys

As a "Newby", no not from Newby Bridge but Cheshire, I have been reading this merry tale for the last couple of days and am now wondering: what happened to Ellie and her plans?

We have been visiting the broads hire boats since 1966 hence my interest. Broadwave 3 was our first from Coltishall.

                                Regards

                                John

I was just looking at this the other day after we were mulling over a jet powered bluebird and couldnt help thinking the sponsons would look good at the front instead of the rear…

Assuming the front end lifts under the ginormous power of the b/less motors, then the sponsons would also lift off the water and thus the drag would diminish…?

                                        Hi Ash

Sorry to say that the hull is the wrong shape for the sponsons to be fitted at the front as they would just dig in during turns and flip the boat over.

Coverage in the magaziene will bring my designs to a larger audience which will hopefully translate into more donations to the charities.
