The triple engine Red Leader is coming on well and the superstructure is almost complete, motors and electronics are ready to install and props / rudders are ordered.

A big help was seeing the film PT 109 on Sunday as I was able to identify some of the smaller details.

As soon as my camera is repaired I will post some photos.

            Hi Bob

I am sorry to say that I don't like the green as much as the cream….but I'm just a traditionalist.

Bob, it's your boat after all, and you can paint it any colour you wish….however, I have to agree with Paul, Keith and Ian, I much prefer the cream cabin sides.

Hello chaps….In view of the overwhelming support for the ivory coloured cabin, I shall repaint the section ivory once again…. Thank you for your interest

Have you got any acetate for glazing the windows and perhaps some seats and contrasting paint for inside the cockpit.

                          Red Leader Build

To set myself a challenge and to get the three motors as low as possible in the hull I have decided that instead of mounting the motors in the traditional way I am going to suspend them from an overhead frame, with this arrangement I can get the cans very close to the inside face of the hull without loosing the security of fixed engine mounts.

The motors look a bit vibration prone, hanging down like that?

                            Is it worth the risk?

I will sort the windows out shortly, but will probably not get involved with the inside furniture

                            All in good time

Bob the challenge is in the risk…. as on paper there is no structural difference in suspending the motors in fact there is a distinct engineering advantage in getting the motors as low as possible.

Just realised that the Cruiser is about 1 to 15 scale, so that means………Cabin furniture is available from the Doll's House shop!…..Wow!

There's plenty of scope for kitting out a real Gin Palace!

A couple of my models have the motors attached to the underside of the deck using belt drive. As Paul says, provided that the mounts are secure, it can give you more options if space is tight.

A few years ago I built a jumbo sized SloMoShun. It was scrapped later, but I saved the cockpit section.

Just for interest, I placed it on the Ellie hull, to see how it would look……and I think it would make an interesting fourth superstructure for the triple engine version?

Would do you think, Paul?…..Makes a nice change from the Perkasa shape

                                    It certainly looks the bizz?

                                    Food for thought……..Bob

ps…..Forgot to mention that the driver`s arms are connected to the rudder servo via a splitter cable and is quite amusing to see the driver wrestling with the controls, during violent manoeuvres

The Slo Mo aerial rudder would look rather nice too!

Bob. Just do it. You know you want to. Looks good. Why waste a good top section???

This is making good use of Paul`s original idea to have a hull that you can use for things various.

                                            Thank you, Paul and Ashley

It would make more sense to make a brushless version with the Lipo batteries!

A Slo Mo version would look very attractive, especially with the Airfoil rudder

                                            I`m tempted

                                            Paul

                                              Hi Bob

The problems with both the barrel back and aquariva is that they both have different shaped transoms and would necessitate the redesigning of the hull which is a little counter productive to the principal of having a common hull.

If you are really keen to build a speedboat version I would be happy to dust off the preliminary sketches that included the twin cockpit type.

Meanwhile do any of these take your fancy

                                                Hello Paul

Decided to build another Ellie hull with a SloMo top section just out of interest and curiosity

I`ll decide on the motive power shortly

What other superstructures…..hmmm… I would have to think on that one.

You have covered most of the bases with the three tops, and so another, say, torpedo boat top is just a variation on this theme..

An open boat like yer Rivieras and so on might need a bit of a deck redesign?? or not..

Will have a think on something different

Your samples look lovely, but I prefer the SloMo version….At the moment

We`ve got plenty of time………….. Got to build the hull yet

In the meantime, I`ll still tinker with the Ellie cruiser

The motor is still running very noisy and erratic……Beginning to suspect the ESC

Keel (Item 08) does not mention material thickness…..Assume 6mm

Cutout for prop tube will completely cut through the keel

                                                      Instructions required to overcome this?
