      Hi Ash

Its three steps beyond the Type 31E but you'll have to read the article to see just how far ahead and high tec the design is.

      Hello Captain Bob

It couldn't have happened without your expert building skills

            Dave

It became a mammoth build and loads of fun, hats off to Bob and his ability to read and understand my drawings especially on a radically different design.

            Bob

I am looking forward to reading your comments on the final outcome of the build, all the time that you spent building the prototype you never knew that the true purpose of the design was a future warship.

              Hello Paul

Reading today's Editorial release, I can see now what all the fuss was about!

Free plans, printed on two A2 sheets indeed!………Wow!

              Exciting news

Must get to WHS this morning to buy a copy, although the ModelBoats Mag seems a scarce commodity these days?

              Great news

Thanks Paul and all the MB staff

                BRUTUS 2050

The October Issue is starting to fall through letter boxes bringing with it the Brutus 2050 article and plans.

As far as I know this is the first free double sheet plan issue so that in itself is a major milestone but this issue goes one step further in Brutus Extras by offering the option to download the plans in PDF format. The drawings are all done at 1:1 scale and can be printed as templates on most domestic printers.

To receive a PDF set simply send an email to [email protected] and I will email a set back but please note that this account is only checked once a day so downloads are not instantaneous.

Brutus Extras also bring you a YouTube clip of the prototype being tested. LINK

The following images are of Brutus 2050 during its early morning photo shoot.

This helps explain the systems on Brutus 2050 but you have to read the article to fully understand the science.

                    Hi Professor

Using your crystal ball once more, in about 40 years time, what would be the power source for such a craft?

                    Something to think about?

If my money were to be on anything I'd suggest an old reconditioned Spear and Jackson strimmer engine with an efficient silencer and gearbox…..but I was always a losing gambler. Burning bull***t might also be a possibility; there's lots of that around at the moment.

                      Paul
I've only just had the issue and will have to give it a proper read before I wax lyrical. First impressions are that it is one ugly beast!

                        Hello Captain Bob

Are we talking model or full size?

Both would be powered by by brushless electric motors, a models power would come from batteries and the full size ship would use hydrogen and fuel cells as a power source.

The full size ship would generate its own hydrogen and so it could stay at sea for months.

                        Dave

It has a unique beauty that comes from function dictating form.

"Unique beauty"?? See bull***t above. The only beautiful things to come out of the USA are certain electric guitars and Old #7. With the possible exception of the SR71 the rest is desecration. Take the F35 for one example, and how dare they call it "Lightning"?!
I'm not going to venture a single step down the road of perpetual motion at sea. I'll leave that to the midnight Wikipedia surfers, for whom I suspect such a subject was deliberate bait… No names, no pack-drill.

Thank you for asking the first question, 8mm ply is scarce but can be found link alternatively you can use 9mm and simply remember to make allowances during the build.

Nearly. Started again on the Vivace as I did not like the way it was going together. Now putting the last skins on the hull bottom before sealing and building the superstructure.

As a speedboat Brutus is a great deal of fun to sail but as a warship it has the ability to dominate the lake.

It drew a crowd even at its 6am photo shoot at New Brighton,
