Build up the windscreen across the bottom which will increase the rake angle and cover the deck, don't forget the cabin coaming is fitted to the rear edge of the foredeck as well as the side decks.

        Thanks Paul

So I built up the sides of the windscreen as we agreed

Guess what?…..It caused the sides of the cabin to be lifted up also!

Can't do much about it now, unless I make new cabin sides!…..Blimey!…..Didn't bargain for that!

Time has run out now for drastic mods

Will put things right after the Boat Show

          Hello Paul

Just in case you can`t visualise the mod

Here` a pic……..Made a right mess of the paint work!

What I meant was to extend the base of the windscreen forward.

            windscreen mod.jpg

This would cover the gaps without pushing the cabin upwards.

              Hello Paul

Your suggestion is ok, as long as the extension is long enough, I think we would need about 40mm to get over the hump

The problem has occurred because the cabin finishes on the curved section of the foredeck

If the cabin finished on the flat section, we would have been ok

Will have to leave it as it is for the time being, until after a few sea trials

Bob. Doesnt this leave a gap at the sides??

Just a thought but could you not run a pen line around the base of the windscreen and cut the deck away (so sinking the windscreen a bit so the sides sit properly) and then just make good underneath?? or are frames and so on in the way.

                  Hello Ashley

Thinking about it now, I should have added another layer to the roof and just sanded down the windscreen!

I may still do that, as it is spoiling the model

How I hate rubbing down fresh paint!

Decided to correct the cabin walls after all

It`s not much of a job really and we can`t show off Paul`s masterpiece at Ellesmere Port show, with such a glaring error!

                    Made new cabin walls…..

I`ve spent hours trying to find some logic in the method of swapping colours!

This is the best I could manage…..

                      Must try harder…..Bob

I thought that the colours were fairly straightforward so I don't understand the wish to delve into the logic of the choices. I do want to help you sort out the problem so could you please explain.

Whilst its only my personal opinion I have to say that the Brutus name on the bow doesn't really suit the style.

                          Hello Paul

The model is painted as you specified

                          Dark grey and light grey

I`ve added the name just to see what it looked like….Also the windscreen……..Paper cutouts, just stuck on

My latest efforts have been spent on how to change the colours in Photo Shop…..As an exercise

                          I`ve got it sorted now

                                      Hello Bob

Regarding a name I hadn't intended this design to have any external decoration, in my mind it would be like asking James Bond to wear a plastic identity badge, but that's only my opinion and I do have some daft ideas at times.

We are planning to go on Sunday at the moment as the M62 will be less busy for the drive across the Pennines. I was not planning to exhibit Shemarah as we will not have a club stand at the show but I could put it in the car if you wanted to have a look.

                                                Shop floor to Drawing Office…..

There's not much more to go in the hull, except the batteries, which are rather bulky

Not so nice above the prop shafts…..Can they go in the for'cstle?

I cant answer the question about centre of gravity because the equipment specification has changed so much however I can say that the point of rotation was top of keel midway between F4 and F5.

The batteries need to be toward the stern, the ideal position is hard up against F6 and below the electronics tray but above the shafts spanning widthways across the model, positioning them in the forward section would place excessive weight to far forward and to high.

As the original design has changed so much a bath test would be the best way to define where the batteries should go
