Bob. Even more reason to go with 600s at first!!

        Very sound advice, Ashley!

But I'm now all Confused dot com!

Will look into the 600 range of motors as you mention and hope to find some inspiration

          Well, Paul

I was only talking to SLEC Sales last night and the plywood has just arrived this morning!

          How`s that for service?

Can`t see 1.5mm getting round those rear keel curves or the bows? But got some 1mm stuff too, just in case

Take a deep breath Bob and get stuck in!

            Bob,

For affordable brushless motors you better take a look at our narrow-eyed friends in the far east… For example Hobbyking dot com has some very affordable motors; I am a fan of their outrunners and have them in use in fast electrics and tugs alike (different motors ofcourse).

I am sure you will find a motor both specced and priced to your liking there?

(last summer I asked a local supplier for a brushless setup, was shocked at the price, and on return home bought myself for the same price 3! complete chinese sets and some servos etc…. and that included shipping too!)

                Thank you, Diede

I'll look into HobbyKing, as I would like to use brushless motors, soon

                Thank you Dave

I will try steam shortly, but one of the shapes is about 1/2" radius….Might have to do some lateral thinking shortly

                Another challenge to overcome

Bob, some thin/close together parallel slits lengthways with a sharp blade will allow curves at that back bit, will need some filling/sanding after, but it will get round..

Got a few trix up me sleeve………Short lengths overlapping might be a nice idea?

When the going gets tough….The tough get going!………Three cheers for P38!…….And the Clone tool!

                      Bob

The tightest radius is on the transom and is 21mm, the easiest way to form the 1.5mm ply into this curve is to steam the ply and then use a small G clamp to pull it into place, it is a very easy and quick process.

Paul said it would be quick and easy!

But it was quite tricky and took about four hours!……….Mind you, I was watching the match at the same time!

It was well worth the effort though?

                        What`s the verdict, Paul?

It looks very nice Bob and exactly how I envisaged it, I don't know why it took you so long as it is a fairly straightforward procedure but I do appreciate how you might be distracted as I know how absorbing these chess matches can be.

                            I was watching the Manchester United match of course!……..Wish I hadn't now!….We lost!…Again!

It took a long time to sort out the first skin, as I wanted a very crisp central shape, it's an eye catching shape

Notice I've added a few clamping holes, here and there

Ah football……. 20 very rich men chasing a ball around a field for the amusement of others, the irony of which never ceases to make me wonder if Darwin got it all wrong.

I intended the underwater profile to be as crisp as possible as there are so many subtle changes of angle and shape. A planked skin would have lost all of these little niceties and wouldn't flow so smoothly.

                                Hello Paul

                                Two pictures showing latest WIP

The big sheet was quick and easy!

Sanding the ply joints looks very untidy when the layers appear unfortunately

The thing about cutting edge design is that you have to be fairly sharp to appreciate it so firing broadsides at those who cant would be akin to kicking a puppy.

Paul. Not on the large side, its a good size for tackling some decent weather and Bob will do this justice by taking on the sea and finding some good size waves to plough through.

It is difficult to see it going very fast with that bow, but what do I know? if the bow lifts off the water no reason it shouldnt go fairly fast of course.

I want to see it living up to its wave piercing design!!

Paul/Bob. Certainly an unusual shape and even more so in the flesh. Cant wait to see it on the water. Looks as if it will be a bit nose heavy but I there is the extra depth below the waterline at the bow to compensate…suppose that is whats required to be a wave piercing design!

Is the keel curved or is that an optical illusion??
