Hi, I recently got into Galleon models because I am assuming that by building a model ship of a galleon (50-100cm total length) you would be able build a life sized scale of it simply through experience gained whilst building models, however I am confused as to how ships actually stay afloat and the safety measures put in place to keep them steady and afloat when their out at sea, things like buoyancy and the center of buoyancy. Also things like rigging, and the actual design of the galleon itself how accurate is a model ship, is this the right way to go about learning how ships work and to build a life sized one?
If Anyone here could give me some links to websites, Or books, places that you can go to to get more information on this topic as I’ve been to 3 library’s in my area and they had one good book called “PERIOD SHIP Kit builder’s manual by Keith Julier ” which referred me to this website.
Any help is appreciated thanks in advance Jonnie.
