I know this used to be popular in Central Park NY. But have yet to see it anywhere else anymore. It seems RC has taken over!
It is my understanding one builds a yacht with the proper riggings and whatnot and presets and predicts some variances and puts the boat in the water and lets the wind do the rest? Am I right with this assumption?
Where in the world can I find information on this! I can’t seem to find it anywhere! Just a few aforementioned black and white photo’s here are there.
Any links/forums/books/clubs that dally in this sort of thing would be of great service. I have a feeling that only a few people left in the world have any knowledge of this…Such a shame, seems like such a natural thing to do. Just let the wind do it’s thing.
Thanks!
EDIT: I forgot to mention, I have a couple “Bosun Boats”, typical wooden floating metal keel boats with some rigging and proper sails but looks more like a toy. One of them is quite larger and was curious if it needed a fixed or free rudder for “free-yacht” and how one goes about deciding how he’ll set his boat up?
