      Hi All

I have now got around to buying my first load of wood for a project. Will probably be Gylnn’s Goblin. My question is about storing the supplies. My garage is not insulated so is almost as cold as it is outside. Will this be OK?

      Regards
      Andy

I’ve never had any problems in my garage with storage of anything, and even though it’s insulated, it’s outside temps in the moring before I get the heaters fired up…all sorts of things stored there.resins, glues timber .just about everything needed including all sorts of timbers, and no probs.

It’s the moisture content that causes problems. Wood will usually stabilise in whatever environment you store it but if you move it from a damp garage to a hot centrally heated house or vice versa then you may get warping. It’s best if you can keep it somewhere in between, somewhere dry but which isn’t too hot.

It will acclimatise if given time but going from one extreme to the other is usually what causes the problems. My workshop is in the garage whch is attached to the side of the house and gets sufficient warmth to keep it dry although it does get cold. in there. Like Neil I don’t have any problems normally as everything is kept dry.

Thanks guys. The garage is likewise on the side of the house. it is very dry, but very cold. I think most of the work will be done out there anyway, so does not seem to be a problem. Thanks again.
