What paints for Lifeboats?

Morning all,

Where can I find info on the correct colours for modern lifeboats, and the correct model boat paints, is there a data base out there……?

I will painting /spraying on to balsa, any kind of primer when the time comes?

Hi Chris,

Mike Pendlebury posted the exact colours on here sometime ago and they are as follows;

BS 381c then add as appropriate

Oxford Blue  105

Orange  557

Bold yellow 363

Red Rail  539

Also you could try Humrol enamels midnight blue 15 orange 18.

Hope this helps? As to a primer you’re on your own on that one i’m afraid!!

Chris,

You’re not the only one have had the paint and airbrush for ages now and am still not ready to start. Slow but steady progress………………! Nasty thing called work gets in the way!!
