What Glue or poxy

Hi all,

I looking to start my first scratch build, what glue/adhesive should I use for sticking down the ply sheet to the GRP?

Hello Chris

I would use Araldite…………………beware!…………….some glues of this type give off unpleasant fumes, as the process is a chemical reaction!

I always open the window and allow the warm air from downstairs to take the fumes away and if possible leave the room for an hour.

If the part you are glueing is not under any load……………..I use PVA, give the GRP surface a good scratching first………………but then you will have to wait about four hours for the glue to harden

Chris. Some poeple prefer to use a filler like p38, as it is supposed to stick to the GRP better, or even just resin with filler powder in it.  (from a car shop)    I think I used resin first off when I did my two glass fibre boats (25 years ago)      Ashley

Hello all,

Thank you for the info, sounds like i’m in for a fiddley time, I have some clamps should I be using these then afterwards filling in the gaps between the deck and hull, if so what should I use.?
