      Hi all

I am new to rc boats (I mainly fly planes and helis) . A few people in the club sail rc boats and I thought I would give it a go.

I am looking for a small (fast ish) electic boat. Would prefer something complete but would consider anything even something needing some work.

      Thanks

Rob. make one yourself   !!!    Something like the MFA piranha is nice and easy to make, has full instructions and is fairly fast , foolproof and very tough. Its nothing particularly special, but on the other hand, you will have the satisfaction of having made it yourself.

Dont forget that your air radio will not be legal to use in a boat (27M 40M or 2.4G required) so you may have to buy an r/c set, but a 27m kit is fairly cheap .

£45 MFA boat, £10 motor,£15 battery  £20 ESC  £35 ish  radio…glue .as a guide verses buying something secondhand. It depends of course if buying secondhand…sorry “pre-owned”  how fully equipped the purchase is and how much work may be required to get it running well for the odd occaisional  zoom.

          If that is any help?

Hi Rob, another quick build boat is the Robbe Sea Diamond. It comes with motor and propshaft already fitted and has an interior deck to take ESC, rx and battery. I have just made one for my wife and it took less than a day to complete, you do not even have to paint it! It goes quite well on 6v and I am considering upping this to 9.6v as she gets used to handling it. Total cost was about £130, £65 for the kit from A Model World, £25 for the esc, £10 for the battery and the rest on a Futaba 2 channel radio. Hope this helps, cheers Rob.

Thanks for your advice. I am not wanting to spend too much as I probably wont use the boat too much. I did have a Piranha years ago, didnt realise they still made them

                  Hiya Larry,

Any chance of a pic of either of these two boats…presuming you still have them for sale?

                  Cheers,
