Dear Jane
I am very saddened to read that Paul is incapacitated at the moment. Please give him our very best wishes and regards for a speedy recovery………..Take it easy, Paul
I dId suspect that something may be wrong, as he hadn`t posted for a few days.
I must first congratulate you on your skill in modifying the vintage launch…..I`m sure all the readers will be quite surprised too!
My theory goes back a few years. We have members in the club building large bulbous boats that require masses of lead to get the model to float on it`s correct waterline………….65lb of lead is common!
I had the theory that if a bulbous model was built on a PLANK, then very little lead would be required.
Paul, at first, didn`t think the idea was feasible…….but after a few trials and tests, he came to the conclusion that the idea had some merit afterall.
The plank yon our model will require a waterproof sunken section to accomodate the motor drive and battery to avoid being top heavy. The rudder can be below the plank line.
Paul fancied the hull sides to descend below the waterline for appearance purposes only
I`m sure that many readers will follow your efforts with great interest, and if the idea works to Pauls satisfaction, it would make an interesting article for the Modelboats magazine.
All the best and also kind regards to Paul
