Having just read the May edition and the Mooring Post by Glynn Guest I was somewhat confused since the instructions for the Mtroniks 15A units that I was just about to connect into my first working boat clearly state that when using them without an external receiver battery ensure that only ONE of the esc's has the red wire connected.I rang Mtroniks up and they confirmed that this is the case and whist switching one off does not prevent them working it is not how they are designed.Talking to members of my local club has raised other confusing tales.I will stick with the advice given by the manufacture until I know other wise.

Comments and/or advise would be welcome

Hi James The switch on the Esc disables the Bec on that esc. The bec is what supplies the RX. So switching off both Esc switches the RX off so no RX. Switching on one OR the other Esc will supply the RX and via the RX the second esc control. Switching on both Esc switches puts Two supplies to the RX and too each other, and can cause problems with the two supplies interfering with each other, (and probable damage). Disconnecting one of the red wires prevents both switches being switched on together.

If you look at http://www.action-electronics.co.uk/pdfs/BEC.pdf   Dave has some good info on his site
