Think im finaly getting there

Hi all, finaly got round to dumping the heavy 12 lead battery and was going for a 12v nimh 5000mah pack but ended up buying 2 used 7.2v 3700 mah for £10 each. Well chuffed as the batteries seem as good as new and my boat is definatley going faster and smoother. Now im wondering what it would be like if i had gone for a 12v 5000mah. Would it be that little bit quicker?

So.. you are running the boat on 7.2V OR at 14.4V?

The power needed to go twice as fast is the square of something or other so upping to 12V will not double the speed but would give a useful increase. UNLESS youe are running at 14.4V. Obviously the 5000 pack will give a longer THRASHING time.

Jon. ONLY if they are running in series rather than paralell.

ie…if the two packs are joined red to ESC, black to red on 2nd battery then black of 2nd battery to esc…this would be 14V

Ah right, that sounds complicated. Ive obviously got it paralell, red to red black to black ect. Maybe i can google this to see how its done

At last, my 12v 5000mah nimh pack has arrived. Cant wait to get the boat in the water this afternoon
