      Ian,

When I last checked the figures I used were still available, from Adrian's Model Figures. A set of three as I recall, I haven't fitted the third yet. The orange waterproofs are arguably too modern for the 1930s, but could be repainted.

I used aerosol cans for the hull and white of the superstructure ("appliance" white, for touching up your fridge), over-coated with satin clear aerosol, but fired up the airbrush for the deck, engine house and funnel colours, details like the inside of the vents were hand painted. Masking the bulwark supports where they meet the deck was a pain!

        Hi John..

I hope to see the Adrian Models stall at the Blackpool show, end of the month.

Many thanks for the explanation on the paining method, its one of those things …that when I like the wood look, it seems a shame to paint but hopefully I will make a good job of the paint work as you have.

        Regards,

        Ian

happy to see your getting back at it

              Hi Mick…

much happier with the new funnel… took some finding..

I was well happy to drop on the wheel, as it looked good on the end of the plastic cotton real…

I am also trying to make the telegraph from the same method…(plastic reel).

Hope you are logging all the details of the wiring and storage, john has made lots of things accessible to the set up, but a picture from your set up will be like a thousand words.

Some have said to me if in doughty about the position of the receiver, to seal it in a poli bag or water proof box with aerial external.

Hope we will see more pictures of the dry run and lights.

Thanks for the kind words, mick…I do have days will low energy, but feeling much better.. hope you stay in good health and happy model boating.

              Best regards,

              Ian

Iain, I have put more pictures up of setup for electrics, I never read it but John says that everything else was mounted on two shlf like extensions of the battery tray so I had to build two shelves resting from the battery tray,

I have also followed Johns advice to use a separate battery for receiver which is on the wiring diagram he sent us,a 4.8 volt nimh I have got but you have to disconect the pos. wire from the receiver to speed controller,

hope you can make head or tale of that,

                take care and heal steadily

                  Hi Mick..

The electrics are looking good, and as you say… did not notice the write up reference the shelf.

I have been sanding down the hull and putting some undercoat on the inside of the hull. Will have to look at the battery shelf and fittings next.

                  >>I have also followed Johns advice to use a separate battery for receiver which is on the wiring diagram he sent us,a 4.8 volt nimh I have got but you have to disconect the pos. wire from the receiver to speed controller,>>

getting excited for you it all looks very good for a test run.

Hope you will share the outcome.

                  Take care and best regards,

                  Ian

LOL! I was playing with my boat in the bath yesterday I was aprehensive at first expecting it to just blub glug and sink with the weight in it but was pleasantly suprized as all it wanted was a bottle of shampoo in the stern to just cover the rudder,

I have just finished all the railings and hand rails all painted with etching primer its almost ready for me to get out the compressor and spray it all white, I have still to bend the steam pipe and fit it and the whistle and the ladder I cant find my bending springs so will have to get another set or seal one end heat it up at the same time I melt lead to pour into the tube and it will bend perfick but thats a long way round,

yes I have a battery for the receiver 4.8 I think you can uncouple the red wire without having to cut it by prizing up or down a clip on the brass end it should then pull out and will be easily replaced if it doesent cut it but leave a bit long enough to be able to solder it together again if ever you want to,

right thats me being chased up the stairs not that I can move that fast LOL!

                    g/night then my friend

                      Hi Mick…

Your Good Tug Wattle, has passed the bath test, great work..and the weight distribution looks good.

I think John has some weight loads on the plan or in the magazine, unless it was a full bottle of shampoo… then you are made up…lol

Hope the compressor works ok, what parts are you spraying white, lower cabin or have you got your own colour scheme ?

I hope the battery and receiver works ok, as I have no idea on that side of things.

                      Great work, Mick..

                      Best regards,

                      Ian

Sorry, mick..not received a battery from John, just the plans for wiring, which shows the battery.

Look forward to seeing more pictures…cool..

I am just starting to seal the wood and primer, will spray paint the hull.

Have hand painted the inside of the hull, that's in the shed drying.

Portholes… hope to pick these up at the Blackpool boat show end of the month.

As you, Mick.. I did think about different size tube for the Mast, but did not think it would look right.

So went with the one in progress.

I think..i will try to disguise the lantern wire in with the rope pulley system, that will be in place for lifting the oil lanterns into place on the original Wattle.
