Hi Guys

I have started Building the Karla from Model Boats Issue from 1994 I have built it before but it ended up being top heavy because I used block bulsa for the super structure. This time I plan to use plastic sheet for most of the structure now. I have looked for various parts that will make the ship lighter. My question is could I encorperate 1:350 scale model parts to a 36 inch model and still have them look almost to scale? I have brought a 1;350 scale model of a russian warship that I think I can use various parts from although some maybe slightly different from the original would that matter as long as they look almost to scale?

Hello John

It is very difficult to answer your question without doing some head scratching, the problem is that your 1:350 Russian warship could be a battleship, a missile cruiser or a fast patrol boat….all could be a 1:350 model but because of the difference in 'real world' size the parts such as hatches or ladders will have a wide variation in size.

The point that you make in your closing comment is usually the best way forward ….i.e. if it looks right then its ok.
