I wonder now, what would be the best spot, as a final resting place?

      Rockferry?!

I hope you are going to whip yourself with nettles?…..For such an outrageous suggestion!

With tongue in cheek……..How about a thread auction?

        More food for thought!

Bob, here we have it. Its nice to build these things big, but its expensive and then difficult and/or back breaking to transport. Anything difficult to use (for whatever reason) tends not to go out and so gets lost in the mists of time (or scrapped).

My latest creation (aircraft carrier) is 4 foot long ( to fit in the boot) but should really be 5 feet or so long to suit the die cast aircraft. It weighs a ton now, so would probly be unmanageable single handed if any bigger.

I have only scrapped two boats so far, ones I made years and years ago, and the only boat I dont regularly use is the little converted R-t-R Severn, which is fiddly to get all the bits in and involves unscrewing the deck.

You are quite correct in what you are saying
If you go back to the early posts, I always thought it was too big in the first place!
But was aided and abetted by the Fat Controller and Winkie, when they were both making the Barrel Back speed boats….Remember those days of 24 coats of varnish and then some!
We all had great fun during the build, but the proof of the pudding was the standard motors lacking sufficient power

I kept the model for a couple of years, hoping that a new power source would appear on the skyline……One nearly did, but it turned out to be only a mirage!

The rudders have been passed on to Duckies son, RJR, who is just starting in the model boat game

            Thanks for your comments….Bob

Bob, that takes me back.. 24 coats !! I can hardly manage 5 nowadays..

Its sad, but just occaisionally reality has to creep in to the world of model boats. I have always wanted one of those ones you sit in…

There used to be a modeller with a sit in sized model at Ellesmere, a few years ago.
He came from the Southport area and was often seen at the Woodvale shows, with his two giant models

                Got a picture somewhere

                Stand by…..Bob

Found this one during my search……Ellesmere too

Can`t find the Southport model now for some reason

                Will keep looking

Just as a bit of an addendum Bob I have today found a brushless motor for your Slo Mo a bit late I know but this beast has a massive 5280 Watt output thats app 7 metric horsepower so in the twin set up 14 horses now that would,ve thrown her up on the plane mate. at a cost though these beasts are best part of a hundred us dollers each hmm pricey lol

                    Phil (Late as usuall wink)

Thanks for the info, Phil, but as you probably already know…..Slo Mo has been scrapped early this year…..It was getting under my feet!

The club would not have allowed a boat with such power, on the lake anyway
