Ray. That's a nice looking boat you have there. I bet it goes great in the sea, something that size handles offshore work really well.
Sadly I do not want to purchase it but that seems to be a very fair price indeed for a fully equipped machine.

I agree with my learned friend, yours is a super model and well worth the asking price.

Thanks for your kind words, the Sea Queen is a classic design, Its a shame the kit + the running gear and radio (excluding the time taken) is worth less to sell than it cost !! but I enjoyed the build. Attached is me with my first Sea Queen with a different designed superstructure and a 35cc Impex 2-stroke engine at Danson Park lake Bexleyheath in 1975 it went really well with spray rails addedsh wd sq oct 16 005.jpg Happy Days

                    Hi All

Pleased to let you know Nick did a 450 mile round trip yesterday form Yorkshire down to Maidstone to pick up the Sea Queen, we had a good chat about the state of the world, and he endured the workshop tour and a cup of tea before he headed back to Ilkley, he is thinking about Zenoah power we will keep you posted. Thanks to all who bothered to view the SQ

                      Thank you Ray

It was worth the drive just to have a chat with you and a tour round your workshop.

I'm delighted with the boat, superbly put together with great detail. It's a credit to your skills.

I am a big Sea Queen fan. In my mind it's a classic proven good size boat. There's loads of room for running gear etc and they handle modern power really well. My current one is over 40 years old and now fitted with a brushless motor and 6 Lipo cells. I also bought her from the gentleman who originally built her. Unfortunately I don't have the time to build them, but really enjoy fitting and tuning the power unit to get the best performance from them.

                      Best Wishes

                      Nick

                        I hope you are well.

Its been a while, just very busy at work. I now have a Zenoah engine, I am in the process of fitting it. My aim is the have the boat running for a trip to Scotland in September. I will keep you posted.

I have the boat on display, and admire it and your hard work often.

                            Hello Ray

I am just back from a week in Scotland. The Zenoah is now running in your Sea Queen. I have posted a video on YouTube. Do a search 'Zenoah Engine in Sea Queen RC Boat'.

I haven't sailed her yet. She still needs a few minor tweaks!

I'm pretty sure Nick has put a petrol engine in the Sea Queen, according to his 06/10/18 post ??

There has been talk on this forum about a G60 motor being in the same league recently at a good price.

                                    Hello Brian

I have 2 Sea Queens & really like them both. The Electric one has a E-flite 60 Outrunner 470KV. Its low revs but has amazing torque. I tried many props and found the best to be a Graupner 75/120mm (Part number 2306.75). I have fitted an upgraded / larger propshaft and coupling to cope with the power. Its economical on battery power.

My other Sea Queen (bought from Ray Wood, who has great attention to detail) now has a Zenoah 2 Stoke fitted. I really like reliable petrol power.

Coincidentally, I'm going on holiday tomorrow to the Scottish Highlands & have both in my van. Will try and get some more videos of both on Youtube. Will keep you updated.

                                    Regards Nick

Hi Nick,Many thanks for getting back to me with the brushless motor and prop details. My Sea Queen was built 50 years ago by my late father for me when I was 11.He fitted a 25cc Ohlsen and Rice petrol engine.I had the boat restored for me last year and as recommended had a Torpedo 850 brushed motor fitted with 2 6v lead acid batteries. But the boat is rather sedate over the water with that motor.I was wanting performance like yours with the brushless motor on the you tube clip.So thanks for the info.Enjoy Scotland!regards,Brian

                                                Sea Queen Plan.

Can I ask the members if anyone has an electronic version of the Sea Queen plan?

Some time ago I was sent one but it seems the stored messages on this site have been cleaned up and the link or file has gone and I would like to build it from the plans rather than a kitset. The hard way.

If anyone can help that would be much appreciated.

I think I sent a pdf of the plan to Harry smith 1 some years ago, maybe worth a PM to him ?

You will need to draft your own bulkheads as they are not on the plan.

This is the original Aerokits drawing, I no longer have access to a large scanner
