      Hi Guys

I am new to model boats but model in railways.

I have come by a nice model of the RLNI severn class lifeboat made by impact in 20th scale. The radio control is shot as is the circuit board in the boat (water damage.

The two motors still work but I will need new propellers. I have tested the two motors on 2v and 6v DC but nothing higher and they seem to work fine. I am certain someone must have fitted proper radio control to one of these as to me they look like a pretty good model.

I wonder if anyone can tell me what I will need to operate the two motors via radio control.

I am thinking of making the orange cabin removable and cutting away the plastic floor beneath this to make everything accessible.

Who is a good (cheap!!) online supplier of the kit I will need.

      Any help will be appreciated.

      Mike

you're best off throwing away the little poddes engines as they leak and rust like collunders, and put two little 385 motors in with proper r/c gear., by lifting off the superstructure, putting new prop shafts in and the motors with rc gear………then they sail beautifully.

Mike. I used speed 280 motors, 25mm props and small twin rudders, all on 7.2V . Goes very well.

Saying that, its a bit small and I am thinking of selling it, not sure how much they go for?

A LOT these days ashley, especially if modified like yours to sail properly.
