        Hi Neil

If you look back through the postings you will see many, many big lumps of advice on this very subject.

But if you can’t figure it out then Vinnie  will be only to glad to help.

Neil, you say you have Adobe, but which one?  You need softawre that will re-size your images to a more manageable 250kb or less.

Open the picture you want, go to Image>resize and make the width 1024 pixels.  Then go to File>Save for web.  A new box will open up.  Make sure it says save as jpg and that the size is less than 250kb.  That should do it.

Nice one Vinnie  and very well explained  I think that I will go back to photoshop.

I got a software package with my new Eos 400 and whilst it is a great programme I just can’t get my head around it.

I guess that I am getting old..

                              Hello Vinnie, Neil.

I know I’m 5 weeks late on this posting but I like to share this info and if it dont work for you then no hassels. ( nothing ventured nothing gained )  I know it works on XP pro but Vista ?

The first thing to do is copy the pic you want to use, rename it to what ever and work on this one  so you always have your  original to go back to if it buggers up.

Right click the pic and go to the  "open with" and  highlight microsoft photo editor and left click.

This will open a window in photo editor with your pic on display.

Go to editors tool bar (top) and move mouse over IMAGE and left click, scroll down to RESIZE highlight this and left click

Resize window will open,  move mouse to UNITS,

Left click to open and scroll to PIXELS and left click.  Now move mouse to Width and set value to 800 Height should go to 600 at same time, left click the  OK .  Now go to top tool bar again ( still in photo editor)  and left click the disc icon to save your changes. you should be done. Quit the editor and to  check if all that worked hold mouse over pic and your info window should display photo size for a few seconds.   On my photos coming of a Pentax optio E20 the file sizes go from around 2.27 mg to 74.2 kb this is an example only  and will vary on diferent pics.

Hope this works for anyone who’s interested.

                              All the best   Glen

Thanks Glen.  Please do NOT re-size to 800 as Glen suggests though.  The site supports images up to 1024 pixlels wide.

                                     Yes sorry Vinnie .

Knew I saw 800 x 600 some where and its when importing a pic. It states will display at 800 x 600 and I quess I had that in my head. Sorry for the confusion.  Am trying to help only and not hinder.                Please accept my appolagies.

No apology necessary Glen, thanks for posting, it will help!  It’s just important to note that we can now display up to 1024 pixels, ‘cos we all like big piccies!

Another option might be this program I use.

There is also an Image resizer add on program file which can be downloaded from Microsoft for free (521kb) ,  This places an additional option in the pull down menu when you you right click on the picture or pictures. I use this and can resize as many pictures as I want in a matter of seconds which will convert a 3.5mb picture down to 10Kb , however there is no need to go this small on this forum  . I use it for postings regularly. It has many options and it will save it as a separate copy or over write the original the choice is yours.

(I quote 3.5 as this is what most of my pics start out as I am sure it can cope with higher resolution)

                                          http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx?

                                          The full file name is
                                          Imageresizerpowertoy.

                                          It works for me anyway

This program is For XP , not sure if it would work with any other operating system , but worth looking at.
