Im busy bulding a motor boat and would like to connect power from the reciever to the speed control or sail servo via a toggle switch.  Can this be done and how.

Why do you feel that you need a manual switch between the receiver and its servos? If you want to cut off power to them then just switch the receiver power supply off.

Dennis… Dave has replied as I understand the post, or do you really mean power between reciever  and reciever supply (batteries)?

OR  main batteries and ESC (reciever in this case powered via BEC supply from ESC)

If you go down the MEerKat, you will see loads of servo’s capable of driving a relay via a microswitch, shimples. Mike Davidson……..Plymouth

There’s no need for microswitches on top of servos to switch circuits any more. There are now relay-based units available which plug directly into the receiver and do the job in a more convenient and reliable way (and some relay-less ones, too). The requirement mentions toggle switches anyway which aren’t, as far as I know, RC devices.
If Dennis1 would clarify exactly what it is he needs to do (and why) then maybe we can offer some advice. I can’t see why he might require to switch off either a servo or speed controller while the receiver is powered up – which is what his posting implies. It’s not quite as ‘shimples’ as just breaking the positive or signal lines because some ESCs will then reset when the power is resumed. This can affect the neutral position of the speed controller with reference to the Tx stick i.e. “centre” stick isn’t dead-stop any more.
The conventional way of switching a RC system is with a manual switch in the positive line from the main power source.
