First of all,Hello Everybody,my name is Pete and i am totally new to Model Boat Building. I have joined our local Model Boat Club, good place to start i hear you say,and i have just started to build my first R/C Model Ship. The Model i am attempting to build is the HMS DRAGON Type 45 class Destroyer. I have discovered the Build feature by Tony Dalton on here, but mine will be slightly / lot different to Tony's Build as mine is being built on a pre-formed glass fibre hull. She will be 44ins long and driven by two Johnson 600 size motors,This is the point where i need some advice please,I am not sure what size props to use or what size rudders. Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in Advance,Regards Pete.

Pete. Welcome to the forum. HAve you filled in yopur profile !!

Good choice of first boat. You need to get a plan really, will solve a lot of questions.

What scale is the boat? A bit of surfing should find out what size are fitted to either the real thing or some commercial hull and you can go from there. As a guess 40mm ish would be ok for a boat that size.

Motors and I would reccomend a pair of 555 from, say, model motors direct, or even a pair of MFA 540/1 …both choices running on a 12v Gel battery (SLA) of 7Ahr..this will give you some ballast as well (but check the waterline with weights before buying!!).

I would agree with the 555 motors (Component Shop also sell them). 12 volts would overpower the model with 540/600 motors. Props around 35mm 3 or 4 blade. I beleive scale rudders on warships are generally too small; I'd research a similar sized model and use the same rudders as that.
