The carbon fibre arm looks very professional and the builder is obviously a serious model sailor. I also note the locking screw that passes through the arm and into the servo wheel which ensures the arm rotates correctly and means that this critical point doesn't simply rely upon a friction connection.

I used a different carbon based material for my arm – plywood. Doesn't look anywhere near as professional, but it works and is hidden under the hatch.

we took the tug for maiden voyage today, impressed for the first 20 minsuntil i lifted it from the water to check the drain bung and for any water inside, all seemed ok until i put it back and it listed hard to port.levelled itself after a moment or 2 so i put it down to the water ballast thing in the bottom.started driving again and went a bit too far, powered on against a safety tether fishing line id attached and swiftly capsized itnohauled it out promptly and drained what i could.dismantled and dried tonight, now in the airing cupboard to get rid of the moisture.

gave up on that game and took my uncles victoria out for a sail instead, what a pleasure that boat is to handle, even for a beginner like methumbs up

btw, does anyone know if the tug should have variable throttle or is it just full on forward and reverse.there was no in between today

is my planet reciever a bec type? there is a note in the hitec hs815bb box stating i need to plug servo direct to battery and no1 pin on my rx with the splitter lead supplied if it is.

im pretty sure its the r6m that came with the recently purchased t5 tx.

it should be ok plugged in conventionally using 'b' for battery as im not using more than 6v but was wondering if it would help with less power being drawn through the reciever.

                        thanks,Darren

we nailed the mast this weekend, ive made stronger reinforced side and rear mounts for the rigging, not a lot i could do with the front one thoughlittle room for modication up there so ive used some super strong waterproof adhesive and slightly broader screws which are also glued.

im trying to find a close up pic of how to attach the sails to the booms, the rest of it looks pretty straight forward

im really chuffed with the test run, learned why it is a light wind only boat, also that my sails are too big, they seriously overpowered the rudder going sideways to the point i could only manouvre into the wind or directly away from it,unfortunately i would have beached on the island in the middle if id let it go on its favoured route.

i have one more pic im trying to add but cannot seem to scroll through the album to get it

                                  Janet,

It sounds as if you are using superglue which tends to react with transparent plastic. For sticking glazing you need to use something like RC Modellers's Glue. **LINK**
