newbie to forum and to model boats

Hi all.

I'm

dave I am new here also to model boats. I have been making airfix models of all things cars trucks some boats also have built 3 model railway layouts.So I think this is where the fun starts. I was given a plank on frame model boat called the racehorse. I have never done a model like this before i maybe asking for some help here and there as i go along sorry about this.As I dont know what tool kit I will ask this first so what will I need.Many thanksfor any help

Hello Newbie

No wonder you were given the kit!……..As the Racehorse is a very difficult model to build!

It is a fine scale galleon type and is not the type of model for a Newbie

You would be better off building a simple scratch build model from one of the free plans given away with this magazine from time to time

As for tools, I would say you have them already, having built three railway layouts

I suggest you obtain a simple plan and study it carefully and if you need help…..Just ask

And welcome , static build plank on frame is a challenge ,

as for tools a good craft knife steel rule cutting mat a small vice ,

as Bob adviced start with somthing simple ,

but dont give up plenty of help here, good luck Larry…
