      Hi all,

I found your forum through a random internet search, and have spent a while lurking around and keeping an eye on various people's builds.

I decided to sign up and say hello because I recently came across an old kit which belonged to a friend's father, and thought it would be fun to have a go at building it. Unfortunately I found out this afternoon that there are no plans in the box (!), so I'm at something of a loss to know where to start!

I'm now undecided on whether to try to find the original instructions from somewhere, or just use the assorted bits of wood etc. as the basis of something else.

look forward to hearing your thoughts laugh

If you tell us what the kit is then someone might just have a plan for it.

            Hi Dave,

Should have mentioned that really. It's called 'Artur', and the writing on the box seems vaguely Scandinavian. I found a receipt for something from Billings Boats, but the old chap it would have belonged to was a prolific builder of boats so I don't know how much store to set by that

Hope someone can help, but if not I'd bekeen to have a stab at something else smiley

            Cheers, Mark

              Mark,

why not ask Billings if they can send a copy of the plans? If you have the original box it will have their model code and that together with the name will should enable them to search their archives.

I've just looked on their site and they seem to be re-issueing some of their discontinued models from long ago, and they also have a "free" pdf service for those that have lost plans, though this is for current kits.

I've got a couple of their old kits too, without plans, so would be keen to hear how you get on. I seem to collect boat "stuff" as my wife calls it, from every one who's having a clear out – just can't say no.

                This might help

A chap has posted a very similar problem on another site (see below) he might be able to help as he has a plan.

Hi I am new to model boats so this will be my first try at building one, I have been set a challenge by one of my mates he has given me a kit made by a company called IGRA the boat is called ARTUR its a Norwegian fishing boat.
My problem is that the kit is incomplete the keel and ribs are missing every thing else is there I have a large plan which shows were every thing goes and all the fittings and hull planking and every thing above the deck.
Has anyone built this model if so how can I work out the dimensions of the keel and ribs
