I have inherited a large model boat, with two 55mm, two blade props. There doesn't seem to be any resources on the internet to definitely say what an appropriate motor and battery choice would be.

Can anyone help? I am looking at using brushless motors and LiPos, I have lots of aircraft experience there.

Hi Marcus , What size and weight boat is it and i have to say Brushless in boats is a bit of a gray area , might be better going brushed.

            HI Marcus

Looking at the photo that looks to be a very specialised racing boat, Tunnel hull, made or at least reinforced with kevlar.

I would say go for powerful Brushless motors, 1100ish kva, 700watts. each giving about 1bhp, that hull will fly with decent lipo's

Have you given any thought to joining a club, build help as well as somewhere to sail it

            Hope this helps

            Mark
